Who runs the project?

Overall responsibility for the wellbeing of all residents of our project lies with our Matron, Joyce Sikota, known as Kuku (grandmother) to all the girls. She lost all but one of her children to HIV/AIDS, and now also looks after 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
As well as being a founder member of the Liyoyelo Community Trust, she also generously allocated part of her own land for the building of the Liyoyelo Project.
The Liyoyelo Community Trust also employs two housemothers and one assistant housemother to look after the children and the elderly ladies at the Liyoyelo Project.

Housemother Christine
She looks after our younger girls, who call her Ima (mom), as well as the elderly women.

Assistant Housemother Sasa
She helps Christine with our younger girls and also looks after the elderly women.

Housemother BoMa Monde
She's responsible for our older girls.

Mr Maketo
Our part-time bookkeeper, who looks after our finances.
